Importing Gmail attachements in Google Docs

Till the time Google engineers do’nt integrate Google docs with GMail for viewing and editing the doc & xls files directly from GMail, we can follow this workaround. This workaround will import the doc & xls files in the Google Docs and then anyone will be able to edit the files from Google Docs.

In order to import the attachments directly in Google Docs please follow these instructions :

1. Click on Create a Filter.
2. Type “doc xls” (sans quotes) in Has The Words.
3. Tick Has Attachment.
4. Click Next Step.
5. Tick the box Forward it to.
6. Go on to this web address : Google Docs Upload.
7. You’ll see an email address written, copy that email address & paste it in Forward it to box.

By following these steps you’ll be able to import all the emails having doc & xls files as attachement and you’ll be able to edit the files and then you can always send the emails directly from google docs.
