I’ve just installed the Top commentator widget on my blog and I think that its better than maintaining a blog roll. The reason for that is not only, it encourages your readers to comment on your blog posts but it rewards them equally, as you are helping those people, who love your blog and comment on your blog regularly rather than helping those, who really don’t know who you are! (I’m talking about A-Listers).
I think, its fair enough to share the link love with those who take the effort of posting comments on your blog rather than those bloggers who just take efforts in the starting and after getting listed in the blog roll, tend to forget your blog completely.
I was trying to install the Show Top Commentator Plugin first, however, due to some unknown reason, it just failed to work me. Nirmal tried to help me a lot but nothing seemed to work for me, so I headed towards Top Commentator Widget. Thanks a lot Nirmal for all your efforts, I guess it was my bad luck only, which didn’t make it work properly
.
As far as the plugin is concerned, its one of the best widget around as it supports Sidebar widgets of Wordpress and is very easy to configure too. So, I’ll suggest you to install this widget (if you are using Wordpress) and I’m sure you’ll notice a big change in the commenting habits of your readers!
I’ve seen many blogger friends having great success stories after installing Top Commentator plugins or widget & I invite you to share your part of the story and the change in comments in your blog!

Glad you managed to install it without a hitch :)
Thanks Lorna for providing the widget :) It is really cool!
Mayank,
Welcome, atleast you got the option to install in footer.
Lorna,
I’m also using the widget provided by you in my blog.
@ Nirmal : I think I must have done something right…when I chose blogging pro theme…Atleast, it has the fotter bar, where I could use the widget :)
@ Lorna : Maybe, it will help you, but I had a bit of problem while using this widget. I couldn’t place it in my right sidebar. It made right sidebar look strange. Can you help me in fixing that???
After seeing your post i downloaded this theme and tested in my system, i do have this problem, it is not showing the sidebar.
I found a quick solution to this.
I guess you are adding this code to the sedebar
change this to the one below
Now it should work, i tested it is working for me. Do let me know if it works.
hey after posting the comment i saw that the php code is not visible, i forgot to include code tags, i will include now.
Replace this
with this
If this one also doen’t show up, i will send you an email.
@ Ram : Thanks for your visit ram. I got your email but that code is basically for Show top commentator plugin and I’m using the widget by webgrrrl (Lorna). Still, thanks a lot for taking the pain and providing me the info. :)
one suggestion ..the top commentator should be in the sidebar and not in the bottom…nobody looks in there..at bottom.
@ Shashank : I take your words that it should be in the sidebar however due to some strange reason, when I was applying it in the sidebar, it made sidebar look bad. So, had to place it in the footer bar.
one more thing ..your top commentator list isn’t sitewide like those of johntp ..what you have to say about this..:p
what i want to say is if the commentator list is sitewide then you will attract more people to comment in …also you will see a increase in traffic too…
i am at blogger i miss this functionality very badly in blogger.
I know it’s not sitewide and I’ve done it with a purpose. I’ll suggest everyone to make sure that if they want some search engine juice then link to others but wisely. Outgoing links is a big factor in SEO and it is always good to have less outgoing links from each page.
My homepage has got the pagerank of 6 which I think is good enough to attract people. Maybe other’s will be able to help me decide about it…what do everyone else has to say about it?
Absolutely right here, but unfortunately, plugin just for wordpress :( Are there any programmer that will make it for Blogger??
Best regards
:)
Well, unfortunately there is no plugin for blogger platform and I don’t think that it’s possible either without any database too, so that will mean, you’ll need space on the internet and blogger doesn’t allow you to run server side scripts.
