Do you love the font display or rendering of Internet Explorer 7 ? Do you want it across the whole windows and wished that you could have the same type of font display in Firefox as well ? If yes, then don’t worry I’ve got the solution for you.
First of all, let me give you some information about the font display solution of Internet Explorer 7. Internet Explorer uses the Microsoft’s ClearType font display technology and gives that smooth look to the fonts. The one which we have used all these years is mostly TrueType font display and which is not as smooth as ClearType fonts. Just for your knowledge, Apple was the inventor or creator of TrueType Fonts Technology. Here’s the image which displays the difference between the two (Image Courtesy of Microsoft) :

Now, that you are clear about the difference between TrueType and ClearType then let me show you the way of applying the ClearType technology across the whole Windows XP.
In order to apply the same thing you just need to follow this procedure :
1. You’ll need to go to this webpage using Microsoft Internet Explorer and then select Turn on ClearType and then you have to click Next.
2. In step 2, you’ll be shown two different kind of text sample and you’ll need to choose the one which best suites you.
3. In step 3, you’ll be shown, six different kind of text samples and you can choose the one which best suites you. Beware, choice can be difficult :)
4. Restart the computer and Voila, you have the cute looking fonts across the whole windows :)
So, this is how you can have the cute looking fonts of IE 7, across the whole windows XP!
