Remove the Windows security icon from the tray!

securitycenter.jpgDo you feel constantly bugged with the security center icon in the system tray of windows XP? I’m not sure about you, but I do feel bugged constantly, it does nothing but keeps on sitting in the tray and increases the length of the tray. I keep my PC on always update for both windows and my security programs and thus I never get any notification and that green icon stays on always.

Now, if that is the case with you as well and that you don’t forget to update your windows or security programs then you can also remove that bugging icon from the tray by following these simple steps….

1. Double click on the Security Center Icon or alternatively go to control panel and open security center.
2. On the left under resources menu you’ll find “Change the way security center alerts me“, simply click on it.
3. Untick all the options and simply click on OK.

Congratulations you’ve just removed that icon from the tray and you can enjoy the less cluttered system tray. For more tips and tricks like this, please subscribe to the ReviewSaurus.

Sometimes I feel like I could tell Bill Gates where to stick his OS, it's now become a nightmare every time I down load WIN updates. I turned all this crap off now I am NOT plagued with one of the following
    1. My anti-virus software [ which is registered till 2019] tells me I am NOT registered. so I have to input my code AGAIN!
    2. The wallpaper keeps changing every time I boot up
    3. Micro Crap tells me my soft ware is not genuine [ which means I paid money to a pirate in a retail store ] CRAP!!
it IS genuine [ but the same copy may have been sold to 50 other people].
    4. It stuffs up my work in progress because the updates hog all the resources
I would love to strip all the crap out of my OS and have a program that doesn't send me a message everyday
telling me things I couldn't give a tinkers curse about

    i did this way

    * As admin, Start –> Run ; type "services.msc" and press enter. This brings up a list of Windows services that you can start, stop and configure.
    * Find the Security center, double click on it and change the Security Center from Auto start to Manual. Select OK and close the services dialog box.
    * Restart. Security Center won't run at all.

i tweaked it to stop and the icon vanished

Thank you for posting this resolution. Microsoft hides these pieces of information at such great depth that you can only assume they really don't want to help you.
