Review of Daemon Tools - Virtual CD/DVD drive!

Virtual DVD drives are really handy because there are various discs which we tend to use regularly and there is always a risk of damaging those discs because of scratches etc.

Especially, the CD/DVD of games are always at risk, because they are the ones which we use regularly or sometimes the DVDs of movies too. So, in this case the best thing to do is that we can make an image of these important CD or DVDs and then play them from the hard drive with the help of Virtual CD/DVD drive or you can say an emulator of CD/DVD drive. Daemon Tools is one such Virtual drive emulator. Lets find out the PROS and CONS of Daemon Tools :

2. Plays even protected CD/DVDs : Daemon tools runs almost each and every protected cd image and supports Safedisk, Securom, Laserlock, Lockblocks, Starforce, CDCOPS & ProtectCD.

3. Uses very less memory : Because it doesn’t have any user interface with frills (it only works through system tray, unless you’ve installed some plugin) it uses very less memory. Currently it is using just over 3 Mb of memory on my computer.

CONS of Daemon Tools :

1. Supported by Adware : Well, to make things clear for everyone, Daemon tools is not a spyware. It doesn’t spy for anything on your computer, but it does install an adware on your computer but to be fair, they give option of not installing that adware while you are installing the software. So, to be honest, its not a real negative.

Overall rating & Review :

Daemon tools is a feature rich and very light weight software. It can be a bit difficult to use for some but when you are actually getting into emulation of CDs or DVDs then I’m sure that you’ll have enough experience with computers and you’ll get comfortable with it in some moments only. It is must have for your computer as it can help you save lots of original discs.
