Secure a Live Email address for yourself!
Do you want to secure a windows live email ID for yourself ? Now, why you would want to do that. The answer is simple that there are millions of users around and most of them share their names as well. Everyone would like to have an email address with wonderful features, from trusted email provider and an easy to remember email address.
Live is a service from Microsoft (Trusted source), wonderful features (2 GB mailbox, outlook like interface, etc.) and the best thing is that it is yet not released (chances are that you’ll get an ID with just your name, something like you@live.com). Now, here’s the trick to get the windows live id and that too before Microsoft releases it!
1. Download & Install Opera 9 (Believe me it only works in Opera).
2. Go to http://domains.live.com
3. Click Get Started.
4. Select Use a domain I already Own & type any valid domain name.
5. Select Create a new Windows Live ID in your domain & click continue.
6. Now, fill the form and you’ll see that it will have Live.Com as the extension of the email address.
7. It will come to a page where it will say that continue to create the account for Windows Live Domain…simply close the browser at that time.
8. VOILA! You’ve got your new live id!
I used the same trick to create an ID for myself and it is working as of December 18, 2006 1:00 A.M. (Indian standard Time = GMT + 5.5 hrs.) I suggest, that create an ID for yourself, before Microsoft plugs this hole. In case you are curious to know that why exactly it is not working in other browsers like Firefox or Internet Explorer then let me explain things. Microsoft engineers created a javascript which hides the option of displaying the LIVE in the drop down menu but somehow that javascript is not compatible with Opera and thus the option of Live is coming in that page while using Opera!

Thats quite strange Fern! I tried it on IE 7 and it is not showing me option of selecting LIVE as the domain name.
Which version of IE are you using?
Even, it has stopped working for me as well – Thanks for the update Secret Agent!

Thanks lee for the update, Although Secret agent has already updated us about it. I’m sure that Microsoft people will certainly make some mistakes and will leave some doors, which will allow us to sign up for Live mail..
