There were times when I used to search for portals through which I could send free sms and I did find them too, however after few days of operations they closed down. The services are Way2SMS and GoSMS. You can send messages to anyone and anywhere in India and that too for free and the only catch is that they include an advertisement with every message you send. So instead of standard 160 character text message, you can send a text message up to 90-100 character long only.
The other Con of these services is that you can expect various promotional e-mails, SMS on your mobile phone and I think you shouldn’t complain because in order to survive these services need to do this else, you’ll need to search on the internet about various other services which will allow you to send free Sms to any mobile in India.
