Few days back, when I opened up my Firefox Browser, I saw a change and the change was that it didn’t open Firefox in the maximized mode and it had lost all the customizations. It showed toolbars in funny way and even if I corrected anything, it just didn’t save the setting and whenever, I used to Fire up the browser, it used to get back to the same stage.
I tried to figure out, what exactly happened but failed, as I’d not installed anything new, no new extension, no new theme, nothing but still that problem occurred. Now, I’ll tell you what I did to fix up the problem :
I Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but that didn’t fix the problem and the problem kept coming back. Finally, I thought of fixing up the problem by performing one simple step and after the first step, I knew it that it will be the only solution to the problem and believe me it worked too! Here’s what I did :
1. Open C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (This path will be only applicable in Windows 2000 & XP).
2. There will be one folder in it – Open that too. In my case it was : xe6hocot.default (remember, it will be different in your case).
3. Now, I deleted each and every file in that (xe6hocot.default) folder.
4. Opened up Firefox & installed all the required plugins again.
Well, this solved the problem. Although, any password or any setting which has been saved by you will be lost completely & Firefox will act as if it has been installed for the first time on your computer. But, It’s good to have the problem solved then to keep it and that’s what I did. Now, Firefox is running normally and I can browse the web through my favorite browser…once again.
