Few days back I’d asked you guys that what will you do if you think that computer is infected from spyware and I got 3 responses (well, I expected more) but I really liked the responses. Doug, Vaibhav and Madhur gave the replies and I’m sure their suggestions will certainly help.

Now, I’ll share my thoughts on what I’ll do to be safe from the spywares or will do to clean up the spywares :

1. Use of multiple spyware cleaners : I’ll use Spybot search and destroy, AVG anti-spyware to scan the system and find out the existing and detectable spywares and will clean them.

2. Stop them at first place by installing Spyware blaster, an excellent program which will stop most of the spywares from getting installed. WinPatrol is a great software which alerts you if a program tries to setup a startup entry, so if a spyware wants to add itself, it will alert you and you can take the decision if you want to allow that action or not.

3. Will use HiJackThis to find out all sorts of sensitive areas where spywares attack and will try to find out the suspicious entries. Any entry which is suspicious, if you search about it on Google, you’ll find enough results which will tell you if that entry is legit or its part of spyware. Apart from that, you can also post these results [just in case you are in doubt to Majorgeeks (suggested by Doug) or in ReviewSaurus Forums and we'll help you in fixing the problem]

So these are major things which help me in being safe from all the spywares. I hardly remember getting into trouble from long time. It’s really common sense which helps me stay out of problem. Just remember that no one is going to send you any money, no one is going to give away free stuff just like that and at least no one will send email to do all this! Right ? Happy and safe computing to everyone.

@ Binny : He he, that’s a nice one, however you’ve got to understand that Linux is a piece of cake for everyone. At Least, I can’t imagine anyone new in computers to use it. They’ll probably run away than use computers again. Isn’t it ?

Windows is there, people use it and it needs protection so, I can’t suggest it to anyone just like that. I’ll still suggest them to use Windows, however if it’s a kid then I suggest them to use Linux as kids are fast learners.

So, that’s what I’ll do to be safe from spyware :]

Yeah, I’ve been a fan of Spyware Blaster. My other favorite tool is Avast and Spybot.

Add Comodo Firewall Pro and Spyware Terminator too. They work perfectly fine and more than that they are absolutely free to use.
