In recent days, I was able to speak to various people who are active in various social media websites like Digg, Mixx/ Stumbleupon. I’m pretty active on Stumbleupon myself because not only it’s a great time killer! It lets me come across some beautiful services which without it, would be very difficult for me to reach.

However, I was wondering that what’s the impact of Digg, StumbleUpon in our lives ? There are many people who are now running full business from it ! Many bloggers and blog are doing pretty well and there was a time when the blog Smashing Magazine was out of Google Index, it kept on growing by leaps and bounds because there stories were doing pretty well on Digg.

Lets see the influence of Digg/Stumbleupon in our lives :

Currently there are 13, 572 images in Flickr, when searched for the term Digg and here are some of the few interesting images which I came across :

    StumbleUpon, yup. Quite useful actually.

Digg – I don’t give a crap. :) Its topic areas do not cover what I need.

I prefer Stumble Upon as it can bring traffic for a longer period than Digg and also it wont bring down your hosting server. :-)

If a website’s purpose & functionality aren’t apparent in about 1/2 a second, I write it off. As such, I’ve been to Digg a couple of times, spending about 30 seconds there at the most and… I don’t’ get it. I’ve since read elsewhere about what Digg does (and what sucks about Digg), and… I couldn’t force myself to care.
