Flock is an excellent social browser based on Mozilla Firefox’s code and which uses the Gecko rendering engine (the same which is used by Firefox). Flock team has released the latest version (beta) of Flock and now the browser stands at Version 1.1 d (beta).
Here are my first impressions of Flock 1.1 d (Beta) -
Navigation & Interface : The interface is similar to the older version and hardly any changes have been made as far as the navigation is concerned.
New Social Features : The new social feature in Flock is that it integrates Yahoo! Mail and GMail too. You can send the webpages with a click of a button to your friends. Apart from integrating the web mail services, the friend feed shows you the activity of your friends across various social networks or social services which are supported by Flock (Twitter, Facebook, Flickr are some of the examples).
It also supports Picasa Web Albums now, just like the way it supports Flickr. You can upload the images directly from Flock and check out the updates in the Media Stream.
Rest all looks the same, however please keep in mind that because 1.1 d is not the final version, so your current Flock profile won’t be used and that means you’ll need to setup all the accounts and services in this version too.
You won’t be able to use your old Flock profile, however that profile will be used again once 1.1 final version is out.
Overall rating and views :
Flock 1.1 looks pretty impressive just like it’s old versions however, I still miss it’s ability to support Firefox plugins. Lately Firefox has been becoming a memory hog and because Flock allows me to keep few tabs closed (Twitter, Facebook, Gmail) I think that it’s will be a much better deal than Firefox, only if it starts supporting the add-ons of Firefox too (like it used to do)!

Hello,
Thanks for the great post about Flock and for being very clear about profile usage! :)
Firefox extensions should generally continue to work in Flock 1.1, but many will need to be updated to reflect that they work for Flock 1.1 (the same thing that must be done when Firefox 3.0 comes out). I expect many extension developers will do this after the official release…if you find one that hasn’t, please tell them that you’d like Flock 1.1 support! If they need any help, we’re happy to work with them.

I feel flock supports most of the Firefox plugins. I have tried using many in Flock
