twitter Well, after the success of Darren’s letter to Adsense, I thought that I should give a try to write an open letter myself. Although, it’s evident that in my case it won’t be a success and that it will definitely fall in the deaf ears. Still, I want to try and see if the postman can deliver this letter to the right people, if not then yeah it can stay as one of the piece in the web’s history :

Dear Twitter,

You rock, you are great and you are amazing. However, I have to say that many a times you suck, you suck and you suck! I wanted to write a thank you letter to you, unfortunately you are just making it difficult for me as your services are getting bad instead of improving.

What hurts me is that you are not taking time to improve the features when I see others are improving a lot, look at Pownce they allow file sharing, makes posting of links easier, plays audio, video and yes how can we forget the images too. But, I don’t see that with you at all.

Apart from that Tumblr which again took inspiration from you allows me to point my domain name but you are just stuck to that old profile name.

These were some of the issues as far as improving the features are concerned but the complaints don’t stop here as I have to sadly say that you get down pretty often and it’s just not me, lot of people have complained about your downtime.

However, the good thing for you is that you have got lot of my friends around you and that’s what is keeping me with you. Not only that, I myself feel quite attached to you so, I want to stay with you forever but you are just making it little bit hard.

I hope that you take this letter as a constructive feedback and that you start to realize that many people love you like crazy and want to see you improve.

Your’s Truly,

    I love Twitter.
But I hate the downtimes. I mean.. they have scheduled downtimes every week and even those scheduled ones don’t happen regularly. The keep postponing the downtimes after initial announcements (and this happens every week or so :()

For instance, they were recently down during MacWorld. They’re not able to take the load. They should have fixed things right now considering they’re getting quite popular but they’re still riding with less resources as far as I can guess.

Pownce, on the other hand, is very cool. But no IM support AFAIK. And that sucks about it. But I’ve never seen them having any real problems and downtimes like Twitter.

Downtime – bad! But IMO, the beauty of Twitter is that is is updateable via many sources – desktop clients, firefox etc. And the SMS feature is the best part. If Pownce does that, then I will gladly join the Pownce bandwagon.
