What was considered to be the biggest innovation in the field of social networking turned in to the biggest pain for most of the users. I’m talking about the event when Facebook opened up it’s platform for all the developers. Then came the open social platform from Google and various social networks joined it.

Finally after about 5 and a half months of the launch of OpenSocial and about 3 months of testing of applications, Google has finally launched applications for Orkut. When I logged into Orkut, I got the ability to add applications and was able to see almost similar kind of applications which you get to see in Facebook.

What is interesting to see that it doesn’t ask you to add applications like it used to do in Facebook, at least it won’t create that application spam problem which we see normally in Facebook.

What do you think about these orkut applications. Do you think they’ll add value to Orkut or other social networks or will these applications cause problem only, just the way we all felt while using Facebook and all those applications ?

@ Vyoma : It seems that it’s working through Indian IPs. If possible try to check it through Indian IP.

But many people here in India had been enjoying this feature by changing their ‘Country’ to Estonia in the ‘Settings’.

@ Manoj : Yeah, I came to know about that too, however now it has been released officially for India too. So you can enjoy it without changing the country settings.
