ReviewSaurus – Technology Rocks!

WordPress is an excellent blog platform and there is just no doubt on that, Akismet is a good solution for fighting against blog spam comments but it’s not the best, few days back, I dumped it for Defensio which was able to achieve 99.6 % accuracy.

However, I came across a Spam fighting plugin called Spam Filter from TanTan Noodles but it depends on Akismet so I came back to Akismet and then installed Spam Filter to see that how it performs.

The reason I was looking for a switch was because Defensio was constantly marking comments of Kanak as spam, although the comments were not spam. I never missed any comment because it used to show the comments low in spaminess and because the sorting feature of Defensio is based on Spaminess so I was able to restore all the comments.

However, I’m still wondering that why Defensio was marking it as spam when the comments were not spam and that I was constantly restoring them, it should have learned that this guys comments are legit when the blog owner is restoring them himself.

Anyway, back to Spam Filter plugin and Akismet combination, I think it’s the best combination and almost the perfect solution for spam comments on wordpress because it integrates power of reCaptcha and filtering of comments based on various patterns in the spam comments.

I’m really happy to see the results, not only the power of Akismet is stopping the comments, I don’t have to even go thorough list of 100s of spam comments as obvious spam gets discarded and if at all a real person is making a comment, they’ll be shown with captcha if Akismet marks it as spam.

Spam Filter is a great compliment to Akismet and together they are doing pretty well for me and I’ll suggest you to use it if you use Akismet and Wordpress.
