When the whole blogosphere is buzzing around Last.Fm’s free music offer and how Songza has added 28 million songs in it’s index, I got to hear about another product, Rhydhun.

Rhydhun is a beta product launched by MusicIndiaOnline which is renowned website when it comes to playing online Indian music. Rhydhun is a downloadable software and plays the songs at a good quality at least much better than any other place I’ve heard.

As we can see that Rhydhun looks like any other media player and you can simply go through the collection of MusicIndiaonline and add the songs in the playlist, it buffers the songs and temporarily stores and lets you listen to them without buffering once again, however once you close the application it buffers the songs again.

Rhydhun has 113,712 tracks and 13,706 albums in it’s database and they are all sorted according to the language and the genre. The interface was fairly simple and impressive too.

The service is free currently in the beta phase, however it seems that they may switch to the subscription model however I’ll vouch for an ad-supported model more. I’m sure this software will gain immense popularity amongst NRIs.

If at all, you want to enjoy Indian music then this is the software which you want to use and yes as I said, this software is my favorite right now and I’m running it all the time. Thanks Rupesh.
