After reviewing so many screen capture utilities, I came across an interesting online tool - Screencast-o-Matic.
It is an online tool that enables you to record your screen activity in a QuickTime video without needing to install any software on your hard drive. It also provides you the facility to upload your recorded video for free hosting. Doesn’t that sound really cool?
To use this tool, all you have to do is to log on to www.screencas-o-matic.com and click on the ‘Create’ button that appears on your screen. What follows is a step by step guide which asks you about the capture size, audio input and whether to follow the mouse with a red dot. Once you click on ‘Go!’, you are ready to record your screen. A box appears on your screen which should be placed on the area which you want to record.Thus even without any software installed you can record a video of your screen activity for free!
The only drawback that I found here is that the tool requires Java runtime files to work. In the absence of Java, you might not be able to use it. But who really doesn’t have Java installed ???
Although the utility is simple and doesn’t offer many extra features, it can be great help when you are in a cyber cafe or similar place and need to share certain screen activity.The tool is quick and efficient too.
So the next time you are not on your PC and feel the need to share your screen, you know the place to go!
