Sync files between your computer and mobile!

  01 Feb 2008 by ReviewSaurus | ,

There are situations when you want some of your documents available with you all the time. The documents can be images of your loved ones, some business document or it can be even your favorite song.

And as we all know that change is part of life, so our music taste changes or simply there are changes in the files and it becomes a pain to synchronize them between your computers, on web and your mobile phone.

This problem is solved by SugarSync, a service which bridges the gap between your computer, web and mobile phones. So where ever you are and if you have access to the internet, then you have the access to your files.

Currently SugarSync is in Beta and I was fortunate to get it’s invite too. The service looks really impressive as it aims to not only allow you to upload your files over the internet but syncs them too.

sugarsync

"SugarSync was built on a platform called Sharpcast Universal Synchronization Platform, which Sharpcast plans to make available to mobile phone operators and others. Sharpcast claims that SugarSync is "the only comprehensive synchronization service that offers real-time sync and backup of your data across all of your computers, the web and your phone." The SugarSync beta is, we’re told, only a subset of what the platform will eventually do." As seen on exclusive coverage at ReadWriteWeb.

SugarSync’s plan are not confined to computers and mobile only but they have plans of covering digital photo frames, TVs too! However, currently you’ll need to settle with Mobile and computers only.

As a beta user, you get 1 Gb of free space and the photos are displayed as a neat looking album. I hope that they can achieve all their plans as they revealed to ReadWriteWeb, however many of their plans won’t be of much to Indians as many devices like Internet TV are not available here.

Note : I’ve got 7 invites of SugarSync, those who wants them please feel free to leave a comment with a valid email address and I’ll send the invite to you.

I gave it a try also and thought it was a nice product. The transfer for large files was a little slow for me, so I may just use it for photos and other small files. I haven’t tried to use it on my mobile, but I may do it soon.

I’m looking for a similar program too. And I won’t say no to an invite ;)

I have been also using the beta and I love it. They actually give 11GB to play with (not just 1GB). I used the mobile browser application in my not so fancy phone and it looks very nice.

@ Jesus : Well, officially they say 1 gb and as far as my account limit says……it’s also 1 Gb. I’ve certainly not tried to upload 1 gb, but it that’s possible then it’s a flaw or bug.
