Behind every man’s success is a woman! (Well, I’ve got different views but I started this post with that popular statement just because that’s one of the most popular success quotes), and behind Twitter’s success is it’s API!
We all make use of several utilities when it comes to tweeting be it TwitterFox (review of TwitterFox) or Twhirl (review of Twhirl) or any other tool and now let me introduce a new way of tweeting and that’s from your normal email account!
MessageDance allows you to make tweets through your email, for that you just have to register to TwitterMail and then from the registered email address send your message to tweet@messagedance.com and that’s it! They’ll make the tweet to your twitter account!
It can be really helpful when you are using your mobile phone and you want to save money as far as SMS charges are concerned. However, it will only work if you have GPRS or any internet facility on your mobile phone.
Feel free to add me as friend at Twitter : twitter/mayankgupta
That is confusing! There is a service called TwitterMail.com which does the same and more. Maybe they should use another name…
@ Boris : Thanks for letting us know about the twittermail.com I see twitterim over there too. Well, I think they should use a different name, you should talk to them because if i’m not wrong, you are the creator of the service…right ?
@Mayank - thanks for taking time to review MessageDance, appreciate your efforts.
@Boris - We are not using that name anywhere, except the url. We are comfortable with people calling this feature “MessageDance for Twitter”. Will consider revising that in next release.
I like what you guys have done with Twitter email interface. Wishing you guys good luck, there is plenty of market for all of us :)
Meh. I don’t understand. Why would I send email from my phone to tweet? I would just use twitter from the browser :P
@ Vamsee : Well, it’s just a quicker way of posting to twitter. I just gave one example over here, a person will certainly find something useful out of this service, you just need to know where it may help you.
Otherwise too, you have a browser on your computer then why do you think twitterfox and twhirl are gaining popularity ??
@Vamsee Browsing on a Blackberry is slower and more expensive than sending and receiving mail. In some countries (like mine) email traffic is free and the rest is charged. But TwitterMail also sends you replies which is the most important feature for me.
@Brij Don’t worry. I was confused for a moment while reading this post and for a moment understood that you implemented a messagedance/TwitterMail mash-up which I thought was great news! But I’m sure our users are smart enough to understand the difference. Besides, we own the domain and not a trademark or anything. People are way too serious about stuff like this. :-)
So, to all the readers of this blog: please DO try out both messagedance.com AND TwitterMail and get the post features of both…
